Stuart Sutcliffe: In Conversation
In Conversation with Stuart Sutcliffe – explores the life and work of the legendary 5th member* of The Beatles (actually he was the 4th, Pete Best was the 5th) and prolific artist. Published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death in April 2012, it discusses and affirms his lasting significance and relevance. In Conversation with Stuart Sutcliffe contains numerous unseen images of Stuart’s art works and writings along with essays by noteworthy art critics, historians and other artists.
20 contemporary living artists were invited to create an original artwork and “have a conversation” with Stuart and these are published in this anniversary book. The highly illustrated opening essay by Pauline Sutcliffe and Diane Vitale addresses some old myths* and includes many Stuart artifacts to illustrate these themes.
